There are few places I love more than my home. It's quaint, cozy, and smells like us. It's where we make messes and memories, share laughter and dreams. This is the place that I get to be me completely. Sometimes it takes a lot of work to make a house into a home and that task, most oftentimes, falls to the woman of the house. I take my job of turning this structure of bricks and mortar into a place of refuge and solace very seriously. I love to decorate and add our personalities to this place. I love to make sure that the material things used here reflect who we are as individuals. I take pride in keeping our home clean and comfortable. I'm thankful for this duty even though, at times, it seems like a burden and I will proudly wear the title of, "Homemaker". xo.Megan <br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11508033241714638829noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6116237295983656391.post-79619149103445506062013-04-08T18:13:00.000-04:002013-04-08T18:13:12.094-04:00Oliver the Busy Dog<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Oliver has been quite the busy dog lately. He helped his daddy and I with some fun backyard projects this weekend and he chased the mailman (literally), ran two poor neighbor kitties into their own basement, and managed to get covered in gray paint from a neighbor's freshly painted table. Sometimes his little, brown spot makes him do some pretty bad things.</div>

Sometimes it's nice to have a day just for gathering inspiration. That's what last Friday was for me and my Mr. We went to one of my favorite places to visit... my dad's office! He works in an old print shop with the greatest nooks and crannies. He showed us an old stairway that I had never seen before, and I instantly fell in love. I think it would make the most amazing office space. The lighting was perfect, so I snapped a few outfit shots of me and the boy. *sigh* I love a good dose of inspiration and natural lighting. What about you? xo.Megan Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11508033241714638829noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6116237295983656391.post-36275144171931195132013-04-02T17:45:00.000-04:002013-04-02T17:45:35.792-04:00Honey, I'm home!!!!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Between planning retreats, cleaning my house, working, and just dealing with life... I was a little busy. I didn't really intend on taking a break from blogging, it just kinda happend. It's good to be back though. Lots of ideas brewing over on this end of the computer. Can't wait to share with you guys! xo.Megan <br />

Hello! This is Oliver Dog here talking about vintage pillows. I know my Mom likes to put these fancy, floral-y pillows on the bed because she thinks they look pretty, but I love them because they make the bed extra cozy for sleeping! I also like to sit on top of them and drink out of the Starbucks cup I stole from the coffee table when Mom and Dad aren't home. Ssh.. Oh, and I guess they do look kinda pretty too... but don't tell Mom I said that! Xo. I just had to share this pic of Oliver Dog. He's got star quality if you ask me. I mean look at that profile! We are sad over in these parts though because a doggie-friend of ours got hit by a car and is at the emergency vet's office. We are going to be making some doggie treats, human treats, and a card to take over to our friend, Teddy's, owner. Praying he gets better soon! xo.Megan & Oliver</div>

Well, other day I came up with a pretty ingenious snacktime combination.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgv_GRDE77bDgo6pmYVsieDLt_wRoQ8TGKeecpiczU_UCSbublcmVoBzqR8GC4bXpaexu03fYYRv0GqLeu5hgPbjdjuqxtLa-Hto1J8iIc8axEEaZ0i1GmhgunoP3Mcgkb28qeP4ocA/s1600/Snack.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgv_GRDE77bDgo6pmYVsieDLt_wRoQ8TGKeecpiczU_UCSbublcmVoBzqR8GC4bXpaexu03fYYRv0GqLeu5hgPbjdjuqxtLa-Hto1J8iIc8axEEaZ0i1GmhgunoP3Mcgkb28qeP4ocA/s320/Snack.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I just love all the different flavor combinations going on here. You've got the creamy cheese paired with the crunchy texture of the crackers and the craisins just add a fun fruity tartness that completes the trio. So good!!! And I feel like it's pretty good for you too. I mean, I know it's better than that zebra cake I had for breakfast... Do you have a go-to snack in your cabinets? xo.Megan Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11508033241714638829noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6116237295983656391.post-58970063979571922592013-03-14T14:00:00.000-04:002013-03-14T14:00:04.658-04:00Oliver the Doodle Dog<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I made these fun foam doodles for my little girls to play with the other day. They would dip them in water, then stick them to the window and make little scenes out of them. I made them a little Oliver dog but they insisted on calling him Rocky, so I took him home with me since they weren't following the rules... just kidding! Although, I really do want to make my own set of foam doodles to play with now.... xo.Megan <br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11508033241714638829noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6116237295983656391.post-72083045659969881442013-03-14T10:25:00.000-04:002013-03-14T10:25:23.122-04:00Iced Mocha // My Way I love iced coffee! And I am in a constant search for the best "at home" iced coffee combination on the cheap. Anybody else with me? It's just so hard to find that right balance of coffee, milk, sweetener. Well, I think I may have found something near perfection.<br />

1. In a blender add 1cup milk, a generous squirt of chocolate syrup, 2 spoonfuls of sugar, and a handful of ice. 2. Pulse your blender to break the ice, then run on the "smoothie" setting until your ice is the consistency you prefer. 3. Remove the lid and add 1/2 cup of room temperature, brewed coffee. 4. Run your blender until the coffee is well blended with your mixture. 5. Pour in a fun glass, add a straw, and enjoy! I think this recipe is great and I can't wait to get some carmel syrup to try in it! P.S- I totally wasn't going for a healthy version of iced coffee. Maybe I'll tackle that next.... xo.Megan Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11508033241714638829noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6116237295983656391.post-78541012323765598862013-03-14T08:00:00.000-04:002013-03-14T08:00:00.067-04:00Have you met Rory? <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This is Rory Cat. He's the baby of our family. Giant baby that is. He loves to scratch the furniture, toss candy to the dog, bite our feet, snuggle when he's cold, and make nests out of random bits of yarn and important electrical wires. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhb40QEaaJ1KQQb5s68kdCY88zo4zS6mQF7_GxyX2tsno85UaT7pKUvf3pVzeYaPQJwY6sbT5hzqhZ_hjwV7-lqxfgW4UvBNIJqRmtmxn7bzrWRV5nFpQ9U_C1RDuhEBwqdRuIxJeWS/s1600/Rory5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhb40QEaaJ1KQQb5s68kdCY88zo4zS6mQF7_GxyX2tsno85UaT7pKUvf3pVzeYaPQJwY6sbT5hzqhZ_hjwV7-lqxfgW4UvBNIJqRmtmxn7bzrWRV5nFpQ9U_C1RDuhEBwqdRuIxJeWS/s320/Rory5.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
He's the most personable cat I've ever know and he even loves to make new friends! He thinks he would like to be an outside kitty sometimes but then he remembers it's cold outside and they aren't many warm blankets there. He loves his daddy and his doggy brother, Oliver. We think he's the best and he makes our little family feel whole. We love you, Mr. Rory Cat! xo.Megan Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11508033241714638829noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6116237295983656391.post-80697718979305736952013-03-13T20:00:00.000-04:002013-03-13T20:00:00.734-04:00Can I get a little privacy, please? I have mentioned before <a href="http://themrs-blog.blogspot.com/2013/03/our-nest-dining-room-reading-area.html" target="_blank">here</a> that we have a really tiny home and, well, our bathroom is no exception. (I seriously think I should make a YouTube video of how I can do everything I need to in the bathroom from my seat on the toilet. But, that is for another time and another place...) Since our bathroom is so tiny I like to keep the number of living things in there at one time to a minimum. Sometimes that is easier said than done---<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I've always been somewhat jealous of people who have their own "look". You know? They always wear their hair that one super-cute way, or they can get their eyeliner just right for their eyes. Well, I got to thinking the other day that maybe, just maybe, I had kind of stumbled into my own "look". I think I can break down my "look" into 3 parts-</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXpGh7XGSxmo7TKa_nLmDM1x7yn11yX6GsagsEzz8mU1fAOdldsHNueYn8GWTuTEGyeEVQfYE0Q8ZDfOPxRBQq5E1tmx_8UUj4xD7JBAUwBUA3peROjpbr972nR7e9BdWiEb7uvZmb/s1600/Megan12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXpGh7XGSxmo7TKa_nLmDM1x7yn11yX6GsagsEzz8mU1fAOdldsHNueYn8GWTuTEGyeEVQfYE0Q8ZDfOPxRBQq5E1tmx_8UUj4xD7JBAUwBUA3peROjpbr972nR7e9BdWiEb7uvZmb/s320/Megan12.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
// The bangs- They're new. They're fun. And, yes, I know Zooey Deschanel is rocking them now too but, hey, so can I! ; ) // The lips- I kind of am in love with red lipstick. It wears off a little fast for my taste, but I found a tinted chapstick that is great for touchups. // The curls- Not much to say here. I was born with them and I'm still not 100% certain on how to manage them... It feels pretty good to have found a few things that I love enough to wear everyday. Knowing me they'll probably change at some point, but I'll let you know when that happens. What do you consider your "look" to be? xo.Megan </div>

We have a really small house... I mean tiny, so some of our rooms have to pull double duty. Here are a few shots from around our dining room//reading area-<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0VSTqQZK4pbiOw7XuyCT5LncGdau1tTgvhJI507hob3JLq70H0FBIXSFXp54TLsorWqE_Sz85peaTs6KZkAv7CLcfImqfilaFAV4lkuG-pPo6VE-cSrSTcwBtKBvd2zEz0ehrAfxN/s1600/Plant1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0VSTqQZK4pbiOw7XuyCT5LncGdau1tTgvhJI507hob3JLq70H0FBIXSFXp54TLsorWqE_Sz85peaTs6KZkAv7CLcfImqfilaFAV4lkuG-pPo6VE-cSrSTcwBtKBvd2zEz0ehrAfxN/s320/Plant1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I love to keep plants around the house to add a little color to the space. I especially love placing them in fun, vintage bowls. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I really wanted a fun way to display my vintage glasses, so I collected a few quirky soda bottles and made a soda cart! I just need to add some paper straws and I think this space is done. :) Do you have any rooms pulling double duty in your home? xo.Megan </div>

I think it's finally coming!!! Warmer days, gentle breezes, and sunny days are all hinting towards the arrival of spring. *sigh* I am so ready for this season. We have been itching to get in the dirt and start our big spring backyard projects... it's going to be so fun!<br />

To help keep me patient for the right time for our outdoor plants I've been putting all sorts of pretty green things around the inside of our home. I just love how much personality a little plant can add to a space. I'm especially found of cacti and succulents. SO CUTE! What are some of your favorite indoor plants? xo.Megan </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Okay, folks! Here it is- the second part to my thrifting series! This time let's focus on those ever-tempting project pieces. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj65bWLcQaZIvcw-ULTecTGOwsYIBVtnPyWsH4HsK8zqfTdur4I0of9ICe0FxfGDGUeV0adb-55YSW8br_D8AdGPOCBwy56ZW8t2a5PVErN9-hQLYjiO1q18C4ei5Uwye4NNWCBvzKj/s1600/Thrifting2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj65bWLcQaZIvcw-ULTecTGOwsYIBVtnPyWsH4HsK8zqfTdur4I0of9ICe0FxfGDGUeV0adb-55YSW8br_D8AdGPOCBwy56ZW8t2a5PVErN9-hQLYjiO1q18C4ei5Uwye4NNWCBvzKj/s320/Thrifting2.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You know the ones I'm talking about. It's that beaten up, old dresser with the missing knobs begging to be repainted or that beautiful dress that's, "just missing a button". These pieces draw you in with their potential but oftentimes are left in the garage, closet, or- can we be real?- the car once they are purchased. Items like these can seem so amazing because 1. They're a great deal! 2. I know there is a Pinterest tutorial for that somewhere... 3. C'mon, I just love it! Now, if you're that super organized woman with a perfect track record for completing projects you can just leave this post right now and go finish sanding that awesome end table, BUT if you're like me with a not-so-clean record regarding projects let's think about things for a minute. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC62483PvS7MratwmO_pZWbQpow6LnIf2y3CfEHi_7sqzycj8Sc4mUg0-bwUVIO71BKfAd2vgFahftllcJjoTH6Pq7A6Fu9lTa2JXTO_gw47Ur0Y9VYi0BtTXnvwW6ysLNKfdJWY3_/s1600/Thrifting3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC62483PvS7MratwmO_pZWbQpow6LnIf2y3CfEHi_7sqzycj8Sc4mUg0-bwUVIO71BKfAd2vgFahftllcJjoTH6Pq7A6Fu9lTa2JXTO_gw47Ur0Y9VYi0BtTXnvwW6ysLNKfdJWY3_/s320/Thrifting3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When you pass those really tempting projects pieces ask yourself a few questions first- </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em>*Will I for real get this done within the next week? *Do I know exactly what I'm going to do with it once it's completed? *Can I reasonably get the resources I need to complete this project, or do I already have them? *Am I really sure I want another thing added to my "to do" list?</em> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you can answer those questions with a firm, "YES!" then go ahead and get it you DIY-diva, if not, maybe you should pass this project piece up and wait for the next 1/2 day sale. I'm sure you'll find something equally awesome then... if you're ready for it! If you follow these simple suggestions I'm sure your budget, your closet, and your husband will thank you. Xo.Megan </div>

I'm trying to put the finishing touches on our living room before spring is in full bloom. These prints are definitely my inspiration springboard. I just love the bold colors paired with the soft shape of the florals and the polka dot print keeps things clean. I'm looking for a couple more throw pillows, curtains (I have a DIY idea....), and a great rug then I think I can call her, "DONE!". Wish me luck and I'll keep you posted. xo.Megan <br />

Sometimes things are hard. Life gets busy. Plans change. And you never get to see each other. I'm glad I have this beautiful ring on my finger to remind me that even though I might not get to spend as much time as I may want with my boy, he's my sidekick for life and we're in this thing together and for each other. It's the hard choices, the time spent away, and the week on your own that make you appreciate the little things. It's hard to be an adult who dreams big and even harder, I think, for a couple who dreams big. Seems like life doesn't want you to make it to those big dreams some days. We're pushing forward- one baby step at a time. Let's celebrate today's victories. xo.Megan Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11508033241714638829noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6116237295983656391.post-67343970367739582682013-03-09T23:00:00.000-05:002013-03-09T23:00:00.127-05:00I'm addicted... <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Burger King is seriously my BFF right now. They are currently offering a $.25 iced or hot coffee. Say, what?!? It's real, folks. I would know because I have been through their drive-thru about everyday since I found out about the special. This is Oliver the Dog. He's a pretty cool cat, uh, I mean dog. His hobbies include lounging on the couch, chasing squirrels, playing with his cat brother (Rory), eating candy, and being man's best friend. Sometimes his evil, brown spot will act up and it makes him do things like eat the trash, poop on the floor, and chew Mom's underwear. We love him even when his spot is evil though. He's our real boy who knows all kinds of tricks and is so very smart. Oliver prefers vintage bowls to keep his toys in and he just can't resist a tall, warm pile of clean laundry to take a little nap in. <br />

Sometimes he forgets that the people on the tv aren't real and he barks and growls to protect us from that mean, scary Jimmy Fallon standing in our living room. He thinks video games are pretty cool but he gets a little freaked out by The Walking Dead and has to hide his eyes under the blankets. We love our little Oliver Dog and don't know what we would do with out him. Thanks for being so great, Bub. Don't ever change... well, you could stop pooping on the floor, but we're working on that.
