Everyday Runway // Hidden Stairwell

Sometimes it's nice to have a day just for gathering inspiration. That's what last Friday was for me and my Mr. We went to one of my favorite places to visit... my dad's office! He works in an old print shop with the greatest nooks and crannies. He showed us an old stairway that I had never seen before, and I instantly fell in love. I think it would make the most amazing office space. The lighting was perfect, so I snapped a few outfit shots of me and the boy. *sigh* I love a good dose of inspiration and natural lighting. What about you? xo.Megan

Thrifting 101 // Part 2

Okay, folks! Here it is- the second part to my thrifting series! This time let's focus on those ever-tempting project pieces.
You know the ones I'm talking about. It's that beaten up, old dresser with the missing knobs begging to be repainted or that beautiful dress that's, "just missing a button". These pieces draw you in with their potential but oftentimes are left in the garage, closet, or- can we be real?- the car once they are purchased. Items like these can seem so amazing because 1. They're a great deal! 2. I know there is a Pinterest tutorial for that somewhere... 3. C'mon, I just love it! Now, if you're that super organized woman with a perfect track record for completing projects you can just leave this post right now and go finish sanding that awesome end table, BUT if you're like me with a not-so-clean record regarding projects let's think about things for a minute.
When you pass those really tempting projects pieces ask yourself a few questions first-

*Will I for real get this done within the next week? *Do I know exactly what I'm going to do with it once it's completed? *Can I reasonably get the resources I need to complete this project, or do I already have them? *Am I really sure I want another thing added to my "to do" list?

If you can answer those questions with a firm, "YES!" then go ahead and get it you DIY-diva, if not, maybe you should pass this project piece up and wait for the next 1/2 day sale. I'm sure you'll find something equally awesome then... if you're ready for it! If you follow these simple suggestions I'm sure your budget, your closet, and your husband will thank you. Xo.Megan

Thrifting Tips: 101

I've been thrifting for awhile now. I mean, I know by some standards I'm still a "newbie" to this thing but I feel like I do have some insight to share. So, with that said, a new series is born!
First things first, before you ever step foot into a thrift store you should probably have a plan or at least a list to help guide you through the seemingly never-ending aisles and bins full of second hand treasures. I like to keep a running list of items I'm looking for (clothing items, housewares, craft items, etc.) in my purse that way it's always with me when I go thrifting. Having this list with me keeps me accountable to the projects I'm working on and helps keep my eye focused on finding the things that I really want to add to my personal collections or my home.

It is so easy to over buy when thrifting. In order to keep your spending (and your closet space!) in check keep your list up to date and with you. Hope this little tip has helped! xo.Megan

Live Tweet Event // 1

Tune in to your Twitter account from 4pm-6pm to be in on all the thrifting action! Snow has been falling steadily here, so I'm hoping to get into the stores once things slow down a bit.

I will risk life & limb for a good deal!

Nah, but I'll give this sale my best effort.

That's right, folks. I'm live tweeting my Goodwill 1/2 off day adventures! There will be tweets (obviously), pics, and all the thrifted goodness one can handle. It should be pretty fun.

I scouted out my local store today & I have my eye on a few things. ; )

The Goods

Saturday turned out to be a pretty fantastic day for thrifting.

{Guess shoes- $5}

I didn't buy these vintage clown candles because they are mildly creepy, but I thought they waranted a picture.

Our goods. Oh, yeah. We had 2 cart loads worth of stuff.

After having lunch, some 1/2 price Starbucks, and two cart fulls of stuff I spent a total of $46 on Saturday.

Not too shabby, right?

A few hours off...

I had an unexpected few hours off from work on Friday... which is always nice. I mean, I love my little three year olds that I teach, but sometimes it's nice to get away for awhile.

It was especially nice when I found this cutie waiting for me at my favorite thrift spot-

I just love owls! I immediatly went home and found a spot on the wall for this piece. I had to take down an engagement pic of Adam & I in order to hang it, but that's not bad is it?

I may need help with my owl-obsession.

Thrift // Hot Finds

I absolutely love to thrift. I love it even more when I find a normally high priced item for cheap.
Like these beauties-

Did you see that label? Yep, those are Hunter boots in silver and exactly my size. It was meant to be.

Hunter Boots- $125  $2

Thanks, Goodwill 1/2 price day! You're my new best friend.

Good Thrifts

The above items were all things that were given to me this past week. I'm a luck girl!

This beautiful stiching is done on a blanket that I purchased for only $15! On the four corners this blanket has a different tree stitched for each season. I only photographed spring, but the others are just as beautiful.

I'm just in love with the colors in this. So beautiful. I'm planning on putting this on my little girl's bed... whenever I have a little girl. :)

Hope your Monday is lovely!
